Five Loaves- Weekly Scripture Reflection

October 11, 2015 – 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B
Indeed the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.-- Hebrews 4:12

Some scripture passages penetrate our consciences deeply – challenging our attitudes and actions. Jesus’ words for the rich young man are cause for all of us to reflect upon the foundations of our discipleship. What are we willing to let go in order to follow Christ? Each of us must answer with our actions, not just words. Tom Booth’s, God Alone Is Enough, offers a thoughtful response.

About The Five Loaves:  Like the scripture story reveals, we believe miracles still happen when people are willing to offer their simple gifts for the good of others. Please share this free weekly video reflection. Feel free to post, tweet, or forward a link to those who need to hear the Good News!

Help Feed Our Teens

Help Feed Our Teens!
Good Shepherd families have helped feed our teens on Sunday evenings for many years. But, planning a meal for 40 plus can be a rather overwhelming undertaking!
This year, we are hoping to make this ministry easier and more accessible.  We have the menus, and we can provide portions of the meal.  We need some prep, some cooks and lots of people to enjoy helping.  Cooks and donors are always invited to join us for dinner, experiencing the "fruits of their labor", and the exuberance and life of our young church.

Thank you for considering this ministry.  Go to our Sign Up Genius page  to see how and when you can help.

Tournament Chair, Ted Simmons would like to thank the participants, sponsors, and volunteers for contributing to the success of Good Shepherd's Annual Golf Tournament. Tournament Sponsors included:

Fred & Paula Neuer

KU Orthopedics & Sports Medicine:

Kelly & Celeste Hendricks, Doug & Karen Burton, John & Whitney Sojka

Website Sponsorships Available!

  • In the weeks ahead, our parish representative from Solutio, Inc., will be setting up the advertising for our website for the year.
  • Please consider participating in this effort since the revenue from the ads is what makes the website possible at no cost to the parish.
  • It’s a great way to get your name in front of the families in the parish.  Advertisements may be purchased for a business, family memorial, or you can sponsor an ad supporting Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, Vocations, etc.
  • Please give these ideas some thought. We need and appreciate your help!  If you are interested or just curious as to prices and want more information, please contact 913.667.2087 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
