Five Loaves- Weekly Scripture Reflection

June 29-July 5, 2015 – 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B
“A prophet is not without honor, except in his native place.”

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus returns to his hometown. When he begins to teach in the synagogue, many are astonished and some take offense – still remembering him as a young man. They haven’t experienced the teacher and healer he has become. Consequently, Jesus isn’t able to accomplish much for their lack of faith. All of us face situations where we are bound by people’s perception of us. Bernadette Farrell’s prayerful song, “O God, You Search Me,” offers an important reminder of the One who knows us truly and completely.

About The Five Loaves: Like the scripture story reveals, we believe miracles still happen when people are willing to offer their simple gifts for the good of others. Please share this free weekly video reflection. Feel free to post, tweet, or forward a link to those who need to hear the Good News!

The Replace Our Roof appeal began in June 2014. To date, our roof fund has received pledges and gifts of $299,361 toward our $350,000 goal, thanks to 367 generous parishioners since June 2014.  The new roof costs $350,000.  Today Father Jim asks for your help in raising the next $175,000.  All these rains compound the need for the new roof and the need is now!  Thank you in advance for your faith-filled generosity!
