Five Loaves- Weekly Scripture Reflection

Apr 13-19, 2015 – 3rd Sunday of Easter, Year B

You are witnesses of these things. - Luke 24:48

After the disciples return from Emmaus to tell the amazing story of how Jesus walked, conversed, and broke bread with them, the Risen Christ again appears to the community and offers a greeting of peace. He reminds them to be “witnesses” to all nations of his rising from the dead. We are now called to be Christ’s witnesses in our own day and age.

The Five Spiritual Practices (Acts 2:42) of the early community of believers were vital to the development of the church and remain essential to its continuing growth today. This week we focus on the practice of Telling the Stories of Grace and Blessing. When we share the Good News of how God continues to walk with us, we become witnesses that Christ is truly risen, so that others may believe. Alleluia!

About The Five Loaves: Just like the scripture story, we believe miracles happen when people are willing to offer their simple gifts for the good of others.
Please share this free weekly video reflection.
Feel free to post, tweet, or forward a link to those who need to hear the Good News!

Replace Our Roof brochure
Replace Our Roof pledge card

After much deliberation, our Facilities Council recommends that our 60,000 square foot flat roof be replaced sometime in the next year. The council determined that patching once again will increase the likelihood of leaks, not eliminate them.

Website Sponsorships Available!

  • In the weeks ahead, our parish representative from Solutio, Inc., will be setting up the advertising for our website for the year.
  • Please consider participating in this effort since the revenue from the ads is what makes the website possible at no cost to the parish.
  • It’s a great way to get your name in front of the families in the parish.  Advertisements may be purchased for a business, family memorial, or you can sponsor an ad supporting Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, Vocations, etc.
  • Please give these ideas some thought. We need and appreciate your help!  If you are interested or just curious as to prices and want more information, please contact 913.667.2087 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
