Knights of Columbus

Children's Worship

For children 5 years old through 2nd grade on Sundays at the 10 am Mass.  This Liturgy of the Word allows children to celebrate God's word in a child-friendly environment.  Adult leaders needed.  Training provided.  Virtus certification required.

Scouts: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts (Gr 1-8) and American Heritage Girls (K-8)

Scouting:  Leads, monitors and encourages our young people to achieve and become leaders through participation in Boy's and Girl's Scout activities in the parish and community. Time commitment varies according to level of involvement. American Heritage Girls is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. VIRTUS training is required for working with children and teens.

Caring for the Sick & Homebound

Serve the sick, home & facility-bound and bereaved of the parish. Our ministry focuses on the health of our members in body, mind and spirit. Volunteers provide various services including Rosary & Communion Services, praying with the sick & dying, helping with daily living routines including meals, respite care and rides to church.

Catechists and Classroom Aides for RE Programs Grades 1-8

Teach or assist in religious education classrooms.  Catechist training is provided.  VIRTUS certification is required.  Classes meet weekly during the school year on Wednesdays at 4:30 or 6:15 pm.

Community Outreach

Build a “KCK Connection” between our parish and Wyandotte County communities through tutoring, community gardens, sponsoring the Catholic Charities monthly food collection for area pantries and seasonal collections of school supplies, coats and toys, etc.

CYO

The purpose of Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is to organize, coordinate, foster and encourage activities, especially athletic, for all Good Shepherd parish youth in accordance with Christian sportsmanship standards for 2nd through 8th grades.  Activities include football, volleyball, cross country, flag football basketball and track. Coaches must be VIRTUS certified.

Lollapalooza is our parish’s largest fundraiser for church and school, held on Friday, April 27, 2018. The live and silent auctions, catered dinner and adult beverage service offer many opportunities to volunteer.

Spiritual Support – Butterfly Project

Pray with those in need of extra support and attention at Garden Terrace, Alzheimer's center. Or be with those residents who are seriously ill and dying at their bedside, a “presence” during their journey thru the final stages of life. Offer spiritual comfort to their family members and friends. One hour individual training provided.
