In the upcoming weeks, we will be introducing a new mass to our community, the Mass of Glory by Hurd-Kanedo. The congregation at this time cannot sing during the celebration, so they will learn the mass by listening.
* PLAN FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKS *
As learning new mass parts takes time, we will keep singing the Mass of Renewal, and we will introduce the new mass parts gradually, one part at the time (see attached music schedule) :
Weekend July/18-19: Holy
Weekend July/25-26: +Mistery of Faith
Weekend August/1-2: + Amen
Weekend August/8-9: + Lamb of God
Weekend August/15-16: + Gospel Acclamation
Weekend August/22-23: + Gloria
In this way, we will have to learn only one new piece of music each week. However, I suggest starting studying the Gloria from week 1, since it is quite long.
* MASS PARTS*
Some parts of this mass are already in our Spirit and Songs book and have been sung at Good Shepherd in the past, so you might be already familiar with them. The Glory is the most complex of the new pieces, so it will be the last to be introduced. Here is a recap of the mass parts:
1) Gloria - new
2) Alleluia - same as in S1 #5
3) Holy - same as in S1 #10 (slight word change at the beginning)
4) Mystery - new
5) Amen - same as in S1 #16
6) Lamb - same as in S1 #19
* PIANO-GUITAR-INSTRUMENTAL-
VOCAL SCORES *
We are in the process of purchasing the complete set of parts. Since this will take some time (identifying the most convenient seller, placing the order, waiting for the shipment...), I am sending you the preview PDFs, that you can print and study from (see attachments). Between the pdfs and the Spirit and Songs book that we already have, we should be covered for now.
* CANTOR+ACCOMPANISTS MEETINGS *
Since for the upcoming music schedule we have new mass parts and new psalms, I suggest we resume the weekly cantor meetings, using zoom. It will give us a chance to learn the music together, with a shared approach, staying safely distant. In the past, we used to hold cantor's rehearsal on Tuesday from 7:00 to 7:30. We could resume these meeting via zoom, starting July 21. Accompanists are welcome to participate. Would this work?
This is all for now. Let me know if you have any questions.
