Gain renewed inspiration and focus in your life! Each one of us is called by God and has been given powerful spiritual gifts. We all have them! It is exciting to recognize our own gifts and experience the joy that comes from embracing them more fully.
God is calling you to a unique purpose in life, a work of love that only you can do. Look back over your life and see how God has used you already and what God may be drawing you to now. The Called and Gifted Discernment process is a tool to help Christians discern the presence of charisms (spiritual gifts) in their lives. Charisms are special abilities given to all Christians by the Holy Spirit to enable them to accomplish things for God above and beyond their natural abilities.
1. Take the course in-person or online. This includes materials, a workbook, and online video access (about 6 hours of videos). Currently Good Shepherd is only offering Called & Gifted as an online self-study, but other parishes in our diocese are offering it in-person and you are welcome to join. For more information, contact Dawn Grabs at dawngrabs@gmail.com or 913-259-4801.
2. One-hour gifts interview on zoom, phone, or in-person (optional). This is really an affirming and enjoyable experience as you get to talk about your charisms and discernment!
3. Small Group discernment (optional). Join a group meeting every other week for a total of four meetings to discuss your charism discernment. This is optional, but highly recommended as it is great way to support your exploration and build friendships.
Our diocese subsidizes the program for a special price of $50, which includes a gifts interview. You can pay by credit card or bank transfer or with a check made out to "Good Shepherd" with "Called and Gifted" in the memo line. Payments are due at the first session. Each participant will have their own materials and a login to see all of the videos online (if desired).
“Do you ever feel too busy to even stop and contemplate what God is really calling you to do? Called and Gifted empowers you to focus your energy on things that are life-giving and let go of things that aren’t. There are so many ways to love and serve God and others, and better discovering your gifts allows you to do this and find great joy in it. By following what brings us joy, we allow the Holy Spirit to be much more effective through us.” - Dawn Grabs
