Small Groups for Confirmation Candidates

yDisciple is extra Confirmation prep offered by the Youth Ministry Program of Good Shepherd.
Students will meet twice a month via Zoom with their sponsors and other mentors in the Faith. This is open to all students, whether in Religious Education or the School.

Gather Sunday night from 6:30-7:45: Jan. 17th & 31st; Feb. 14th & 28th; Mar. 14th.
It will end with a ‘Confirmation Experience’ on Saturday, March 27th

What is yDisciple?

yDisciple gathers youth and teens together in small groups with mentors to discuss topics in the faith, grow in friendship, have fun, and grow as disciples. yDisciple as a program has many offerings, but we will be using them to add to your student’s experience of Confirmation.

What does each meeting look like?

Participants will join the Zoom meeting, do some activity, watch a video / listen to a talk on the day’s topic, and go into break-out rooms to discuss with their group.

How are the groups chosen?

Several friends can gather and decide to be in a group, and then communicate the group and their members to Fr. Ashmore as part of the registration, who will then distribute the groups as closely as possible to the student’s wishes. Groups will be single gender and should be made up of 5-7 students.

Can my child’s sponsor join?

Absolutely! Each student is encouraged to invite their sponsor to the group, and each sponsor is welcome at all meetings. In fact, our hope is that all sponsors can participate.

What is the cost?

yDisciple is provided free by the Youth Ministry Office of Good Shepherd to all students. There may be a cost for the “Confirmation-Experience” but that has yet to be determined.

What is the Confirmation Experience?

At this point, there are no solid plans. Our hope is to provide a day of activities to prepare the students spiritually and humanly for their confirmation, while respecting the social distancing necessary. Sponsors will be welcome to join. As the day comes closer, we will provide more details.

When is registration due?

Please register online at youth ministry page on the web site by January 11th. More information will be sent after registration.

Can my child’s group continue after Confirmation?

Yes! Each group can continue meeting after Confirmation. As the day draws near, talk to Fr. Ashmore and together you can make a plan.
